Update on LMI project progress

Project of Initiatives gasification stove utilizing agricultural products waste implemented in Thai Nguyen, 4th quarter of 2016

To continue the operations in the 3rd quarter, in the 4th quarter of 2016, CCS and PED have co-implemented on assessing and delivering stoves to 140 households in Tan Duong and Quy Ky communes, Dinh Hoa, Thai Nguyen. Main activities of the 4th quarter:

·         November: Tested 03 stove samples with 12 households

·         December: Transferred 02 times with a total of 140 beneficiary households.

In the 1st quarter of 2017, there will also be a final transfer for 41 households (31 more compared to the initial number of beneficiary households).

Preliminary assessment results show that the households in mountainous areas, where discarded agricultural byproducts such as corn, husks, wood chips are vastly available, have a tendency to choose stoves that can take advantage of these fuels without having further process.

However, to further efficiency improvement, the upcoming project component will promote the creation of a Products and Services System in the local to support the supply & repair of the stove and fuel.
